ALHAUS joins Tech Zero

ALHAUS has pledged to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by joining Tech Zero, a task force dedicated to halting climate change.

We’ve joined Tech Zero, a climate action group with more than 100 member companies working together to fight the climate crisis, accelerate the way to net zero emissions and help their audience and customers make greener choices.

Tech Zero is led by Tech Nation, a national network of tech entrepreneurs and Bulb, which was featured in our August 2021 issue. It was founded by a collective of UK firms that includes allplantsBabylonCitymapperFacultyGoCardlessHabitoHopinMoneysupermarket GroupOLIOOnfidoRevolutStarling Bankwhat3words, and Wise.

Backed by the UK Government, the group has been working with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the Council for Sustainable Business and the former Net Zero Business Champion Andrew Griffith MP to give companies the resources to invest in greener choices and to encourage their customers to switch to green technologies.

Net zero relates to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount that is removed from the atmosphere. All members of Tech Zero have pledged to set up an ambitious net zero target action plan within a year of joining the group and to report their progress every year. ALHAUS and the rest of the group have committed to halving their emissions by 2030, reaching net zero by 2050.

ALHAUS team members work remotely without a central office, so our impact on the environment is relatively small, but sustainability and our responsibility to climate change are constantly on our minds. By joining the taskforce, we have committed to measure all of our emissions and set an ambitious net zero target. This means that every year we publish our scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions (limiting our company’s carbon footprint in line with keeping global warming below 1.5°C) and that we communicate our climate commitment on our website.

Tech Zero has also partnered with the UN Race to Zero initiative, a global campaign designed to gather support from businesses, regions and investors to establish a zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats to the planet, while also creating jobs and sustainable growth.

All members of Tech Zero are committed to the same overarching goal of halving emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions as soon as possible. And when companies make the Tech Zero commitments, they’re also enrolled in the Race to Zero.

The companies that join Tech Zero also gain access to exclusive events organised with climate experts, leading companies in the race to net zero and some of the most exciting green tech startups.

So what are you waiting for? Find out how you can join us in our mission to fight the climate crisis.
